Kadhi Pakoda for Navratras without Gram Flour. This Kadhi is made with Sama Rice Flour (Samvat Rice Flour) and gets its yellow hue from the turmeric powder. Tastes just like the original gram flour kadhi. Team it up with Sama Rice Pulao (Samvat Rice Pulao) for a complete meal.

Ingredients for Kadhi

  • Sour curd                                           1 cup
  • Sama rice flour                                  1 tablespoon
  • Water                                                1-½ cup
  • Cooking Oil                                        1 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds (jeera)                            ½ teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder                               ¼ teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder                               ½ teaspoon
  • Rock Salt (Sendha Namak)                  To taste
  • Coriander powder                              ½ teaspoon

Ingredients for Pakoda

  • Kuttu aata (Buckwheat flour)              1 teaspoon
  • Potato, boiled and mashed                  1
  • Rock Salt (Sendha Namak)                  To taste
  • Green chilli, chopped                          1
  • Fresh Coriander, chopped                   1 teaspoon
  • Cooking Oil                                        For frying

Procedure

  1. Put curd, sama flour and water in a blender jar and blend nicely to make a smooth mixture.

Tip: You can add some lemon juice to the kadhi if the curd is not sour.

  1. Put a wok or deep frying pan on heat, pour 1 tablespoon oil in it.
  2. Add jeera and as it crackles, put turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder. Stir fry for a second then pour the curd mixture in it.
  3. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes on low medium heat stirring occasionally until the kadhi thickens to the required consistency.
  4. Meanwhile mix mashed boiled potatoes, kuttu flour and dry spices in a bowl and make small balls of the mixture.
  5. Deep fry the pakodas in hot oil and put these pakodas in kadi.
  6. Once the kadhi has boiled with the pakoras for 2-3 minutes, remove from heat and pour in the serving bowl.
  7. Serve hot with Sama Rice Pulao (Click here for recipe).
